Have you tried virtually every diet you can think of, but still looking for one that works? Why is it that so many diets fail? It’s incredible how many people still teach the myth that eating less will bring about weight loss. In actual fact when we go on a low calorie diet we are at risk for gaining weight. Your body is designed to interpret restricted food consumption with starvation. When we intentionally deprive our bodies of food we send our body into starvation preservation mode.
Studies show that thin people tend to eat a diet that have more complex carbohydrates (such as fruits and veg, wholegrains etc) and most people who are overweight usually have diets that contain more fat. We need to fully understand how our bodies work in order to create a successful weight loss program. One of the best ways to lose weight is to observe a low GI diet where you restrict the total amount of carbs you eat each day, but don’t worry too much about the other foods. You still need to make sure you don’t overeat, by carefully managiing your portion sizes, and ensuring you get the right proportion of healthy and nutritious foods which should also be low in saturated fats.
Chances are there are habits that contributed to the weight gain and the weight gain was not over night but took years to accumulate. Because gaining all that weight happened over time, getting back to your normal weight won’t happen in an instant. People who haven’t figured out the balance between watching what you eat, ensuring you get enough water, getting regular exercise and getting plenty of sleep are the next customers to the marketing companies pushing the latest fad diet, diet pill or quick weight loss diet. You don’t need to look far to find the latest fad diet or weight loss program. Because most individuals today have been programmed to want everything now, it’s much easier to think (or even believe) that a magic does exist that can burn off fat virtually overnight, than to conceive that we have power to re-structure our lives and live healthier longer lives where being overweight and unhealthy is the thing of the past.
Diets simply don’t work because they do not encourage a healthy balance within your body. Diets fail because some are designed towards making the promoter or some company wealthy rather than producing a diet plan or program that will genuinely aid a person to lose weight.
Everybody is telling us that people who are overweight are at increased risk of diseases and other serious health conditions due to being overweight. Excessive fat and processed carbs in your diet is one of the main contributors to unnecessary body fat.
For too many years people have been instructed that they need to cut down on food or count every calorie they consume in the hope that they will burn off excess fat. Believe it or not our bodies are very proficient when it has to manage weight assuming that we give them what they need to stay healthy – like getting enough sleep, plenty of water, wholesome and nutritious foods, and daily physical activity.
Getting rid of those extra pounds is not only about counting calories, you also need to avoid eating in excess. Proper portions of wholesome foods are crucial to losing weight. It’s also important that you get plenty of exercise. Our bodies were made to move!
